Didcot Railway Centre - a revisit
14 August 2019 a revisit to the Railway Centre after finding out the Spa Valley Railway didn't run the steam services we had originally seen advertised. Fast running to Didcot Parkway on GWR class 800 IET train units and lunch taken at the Prince of Wales pub just outside the station. Then onwards into the Didcot Railway Centre where 2 locomotives were in steam. Attendees were Roger; Hon Sec, Malcolm, Colin, Tim and Jim; President. Despite the damp overcast day, our spirits were not dampened. Very enjoyable day. The locos running were 1450, a GWR Collett 1400 class 0-4-2T and Saint class 2999 Lady of Legend Churchward design & build. Our return journey was a direct service from Didcot Parkway stopping at Reading where Tim left us to return to Guildford and then London Paddington.
